This CCRS core module is delivered fully online. This unit will open on the 12th of June and close on  the 17th of July with the end of module assignment due no later than 17 July 25. Following registration, the course administrator will contact you a few days before the module start date with further information and login details.

Course Description

We live in a contemporary world where the presence of different religions cannot be ignored. This CCRS specialist module invites reflection about Catholicism in dialogue with other religions. It presents the key beliefs, traditions and practices of four major religions - Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. It also considers how the Catholic Church has progressively understood the role of engaging with religions, respecting and valuing their rich heritage while, at the same time, proclaiming the gospel of Christ to all humanity. At a time when religions are often portrayed in the media with polarisation, isolation and fear, the module encourages knowledge, understanding and appreciation of other religions in order to build mutual friendship, dialogue and shared responsibility for a better world.
 Upon completion of the module, you should be able to: 
•clarify from a Catholic perspective the reasons for and ways of engagement withreligions;
•grow in knowledge and understanding of religious beliefs, traditions and practices;
•appreciate and promote the role of religions for the common good;
•consider the role of inter-religious dialogue within the mission of the Church and thecontext of the contemporary world;
•reflect on and communicate what has been learned from an adult/professionalstance.
