Liverpool Hope Staff and PGR Student Day Conference: 19th June 2026

Where: Eden Building, Liverpool Hope University, Taggart Avenue, L16 9JD

What: This Day Conference on the theme Theory, Practice and Change, affords
participants an opportunity to discuss research at any stage of development. PhD, Professional Doctorate students and other PGR students from any discipline are welcome to submit paper presentations, poster presentations, performances pieces and panels discussions. While the conference theme is Theory, Practice and Change, submissions so connected with one or more of the University’s Key Research Themes are welcome; Environment, Ecology and Sustainability, Social Justice, Identity and Empowerment, Digital Futures, Innovation and Enterprise, Community, Culture and Heritage, Health, Wellbeing, Creativity and Belief.

Keynote: Quill R Kukla, Professor of Philosophy and Disability Studies at
Georgetown University will deliver a keynote address entitled, ‘Spatial Agency
and the Choreography of Resistance’. In their talk, Professor Kukla will explore
our need for spatial agency and how we can rechoreograph spaces so as so
shift their ability to support agency, authority, and justice. Examples drawn from
political protest, squatting and occupation, crip activism and the “radical rest”
movement, and from drag, motivate and illustrate the view. Together with, Dr Elena Musi (University of Liverpool), Dr Sally Latham (Wikimedia) and Dr Jonathan Parker (Liverpool Hope), Professor Kukla will join a plenary panel
on the topic of misinformation and media literacy.

Cost: A nominal fee of £10 will be charged to those not from Liverpool Hope to
cover tea and coffee and lunch.
