Staff Health Promotion Days

HPS Fitness Assessments

On Thursday 8th May, the Hope Park Sports Team will be offering fitness assessments to University staff to assess different components of fitness. Sessions will be offered as 6 x 60-minute sessions from 10am - 4pm, with one staff attendee per session.

The team will be looking at mobility, strength, cardiovascular fitness and other components related to health and longevity. The sessions will last 60 minutes, with the opportunity to discuss strengths and weaknesses and have a gym-based program to help improve certain aspects of fitness. Please come wearing suitable gym kit / trainers. These sessions are open to all University staff.

 

Health Screening and Sports Massage 

On Wednesday 7th of May, the University Health Sciences Team will provide free 15-minute health screening sessions from 10am to 4pm and 15-minute sports massage sessions from 12:30 to 3pm.

Description

On Wednesday 7th of May, the University Health Sciences Team will provide free 15-minute health screening sessions from 10am to 4pm.

15 minute health screening service involving measurement of commonly reported health markers such as, blood pressure, body composition and fasting cholesterol and glucose. These are mostly non-invasive procedures but a small fingertip blood sample is required to measure cholesterol and glucose levels. For accurate measurement these should also be taken following at least an 8 hour fast.
