This course explores the distinctive identity and defining characteristics of Church of England schools. It examines the relationship between values, vision, ethos and standards within a Church of England school and considers the special nature and impact of religious education and collective worship. The importance of reflective practice is emphasised, with opportunities to develop professional knowledge, understanding and skills, and to prepare with confidence for a role and contribution within an Anglican setting.

Course Description

The course will run across four Saturdays from 9am - 2pm. Day One focuses on the Church of England vuision for education. Day Two looks at values, ethos and standards in an Anglican school and what impact they have. Day Three examines Religious Education in the Anglican School, specifically how RE contributes to the Christian character of a Church of England school and the spiritual development of pupils. Day Four addresses Collective Worship in the Anglican School to demonstrate the importance of collective worship in the life of the school and its impact on the school community. Assessment for the whole course is by attendance and submisison of a final portfolio.

Assessment is through attendance and submission of a Portfolio (2500 words). A Hope certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
